After 23 races, 5 overall first place trophies, thousands of hours of training, crashes, injuries, and breakdowns, why is this veteran racer so excited about this year's race? "This is an important and exciting race for me because it's the first race I've done with my son, Chad, as my co-driver," Larry said. With over 220 of the world's top drivers competing in 24 Pro and 5 Sportsman classes for cars, trucks, motorcycles and ATV's, this year's race looks to be an exciting one for everyone.???Larry will be heading to Ensenada, Mexico this weekend to begin pre-running for the race, which takes place at the end of the month on November 20 through 23. "We'll spend a lot of time going over and over the course of the race, marking dangers, identifying fast areas, scouting out fuel stops, and planning our race strategy," Larry added.
In the course of the next month the team will go over the race's course 6 times, taking about 3 days for each time. "This is a tough, tough course even for very experienced drivers," commented Chad, "We'll be covering over 750 miles of some of Baja's best desert racing terrain that includes dirt roads, highways, cattle ranges and all the other variables that come up in the desert," he added. The Ragland's race team includes drivers Larry and Chad Ragland, as well as 25 crew people to keep the truck running smoothly throughout the race. The team is sponsored by Bothwell Motorsports, BFGoodrich Tires, AEM and Your Source Financial. Larry will be driving a Chevy Silverado and will turn over the driving to Chad for the middle section of the race to give him a strategic break. Chad brings years of award-winning motorcycle racing and driving to this race. The approximately 14-1/2 hour race begins at 8:00 a.m.
on November 21, so over half the race is driven in the dark. "It's imperative the drive team know the course well when so much of the race will be done in the dark," stated Larry. In addition to the Ragland's, entries have come from 26 U.S. states, Mexico, Canada, Japan, Guatemala, France, Brazil and Uruguay. Tim tried many different devices but none of them worked, so he designed and developed the Speedster Training System. The Speedster was a simple design at first with just a harness and rope dragging a couple of old tires across the football field.
Today, the Speedster has the same philosophy but a much better design. This total resistance device along with training program has changed the live of athletes around the world. In 1989 Tim started a company called Greater Performance Inc (GPI-USA). This company is responsible for many different sports related training products, but the Speedster is the root of most of the others. Some household names like, Rich Gannon...
